The farm is in a registered game reserve with various indigenous wild animals, so children should not be allowed to wander away from the house un-accompanied by an adult. The Reserve is home to a wide variety of fauna and flora.

BIRDING & WILDLIFE – A bird checklist, regularly updated, lists over a hundred species of highveld avifauna and includes the brilliant malachite sunbird, the Cape vulture and the fish eagle. Herds of Africa’s less famous antelope including eland, black wildebeest, blesbuck, mountain reedbuck and the very uncommon oribi are likely to be seen, as well as brief glimpses of predators such as the elusive leopard, jackal or caracal. The wide-ranging brown hyena is a frequent visitor. While out exploring you might occasionally hear the bark of baboons from the cliff tops.

HIKING & BIKING – The valley and mountains surrounding the cottages will provide family and friends with hours of hiking and mountain biking fun.

STAR GAZING – The remoteness of the destination allows for star filled skies rarely seen and a night silence rarely encountered. The après fishing experience at Highland Run creates extra special memories.

SITE SEEING  & NEARBY ATTRACTIONS – The Kruger National Park, Pilgrim’s Rest, Blyde River Canyon, Bourke’s Luck Potholes, God’s Window and the Sudwala and Echo Caves are just some of the attractions that would make for a spectacular day out.

FISHING – Fishing, fishing & fishing – This is the main attraction & the key focus on the property. The farm has over 5 km’s of some of the finest river fishing in South Africa.
